Hoping the worst that comes of this is the two storms weaken each other and move on quickly.  We don’t need another Harvey type event.

No matter what happens, it will find a way to keep from raining on Austin. In fact if those storms miss to the East, it will be even hotter and drier here.

It hasn't even got here and it has been pouring rain all summer in a way that I haven't seen in a while. That's not good at all.

Can we get some in CA? Out my window i t looks like when we were in Delhi and they had a festival while the farmers in the surrounding area were slashing and burning the crops all at the same time.

My parents are supposed to close on a house in Gautier, MS on the 24th. That's being pushed back a bit...

We are in San Antonio right now. It’s good for us because we can buy supplies before heading back. I’m supposed to be back in the Baton Rouge office on Monday. I’m secretly hoping that they shut down.

If you are in the vicinity of Houston I strongly recommend you read spacecityweather.com. As they say it is no-hype forecasts. They give it pretty candid.

I'm not too worried yet, it will be tomorrow before we have a better idea.

NHC just updated their storm outlook and it shows both of these things going over New Orleans. It’s still kinda early to say for sure about Laura, but it looks like Marco makes landfall Monday morning. Do what you need to do and  be safe, man.

NHC just updated, looks like a double whammy for Louisiana. Still a little early to say for absolute sure on Laura, but doesn’t look good.

Damn, reminds me of Florida back in 2004. We got hit with three consecutively ( Charley, Frances, and Jeanne), and the pandhandle got a 4th (Ivan). However, that was spread out over a few weeks. This could potentially be two hurricane landfalls within 48-72 hours.

What frightens me just as much though is the after-effects. Red Cross does amazing recovery work, but the bulk of their membership is made up of retirees. Putting that many older folks in a place with damaged infrastructure during a pandemic sounds like a recipe for disaster.

How many hundred year floods can a city get in a decade? Possibly time to update those flood maps...

I’m just glad the full force of it isn’t blasting Florida, just some tropical storm weather rain. Let’s hope it mellows out before landfall.

Thanks. You too. We are going to the store tonight and plan an early departure tomorrow so we have time to batten down the hatches at the house before the storm hits.

when that storm came up the east coast and places were loosing power, etc. i have family that were all cramming into other homes. All I could think is, this seems like a terrible idea. multiply that by the thousands of others, how many cases did that lead to?

Not to mention for the huricanes, th ousands of linemen and NG from all over the country that will be going to and from the area, living in close proximity
